AMSTERDAM — Reuters reported today that 54-year-old Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel, known around the world for her title role in the softcore Emmanuelle series produced in France, will be the subject of a new documentary.
The actress' autobiography, Nue, was published last month in France. Oddly, she remains more famous in the United States than in her home country, the Netherlands.
But Dutch filmmaker Michiel van Erp plans to change all of that.
"She is one of the few Dutch actresses who made it abroad," said van Erp. He also pointed out that Kristel is also an accomplished filmmaker. Her short, Topor and Me, has won several awards in the festival circuit.
The untitled documentary will cover her entire life, including her many love affairs, her battles with drug use, and her fight against cancer.
