Joanna Angel's New 'Do, New Plans

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In a move that will bring the adult industry to its collective knees, Joanna Angel, reigning monarch of alternative porn, has dyed her hair pink.
Well, part of it, at least. A slightly slimmed down Angel (she's been working out) visited the XFANZ offices wearing a slinky black dress and a bright new swatch of hot-pink locks that slashes through the rest of her hair, now a shiny black.
"I'm not complaining about my time at Hustler," the former Hustler contract star and director told XFANZ. "But I always felt like the black sheep of the family."
Indeed, Angel used to be one of four contract stars at the venerable studio, along with Memphis Monroe, Mya Luanna and Nikki Nine (only Monroe remains a Hustler star from that quartet). While Angel was there, she dyed her hair a more conservative brown.
"I don't know why I thought that would make me more mainstream," she said. "I even kept the brown [hair] after I left Hustler and started meeting with other companies, but now that I'm working for myself, I called a meeting with myself and told myself I wanted pink hair."
Besides a new hairstyle, Angel's meetings have also paid off creatively. She said there's a "90 percent" chance she'll be directing for, of all places, Club Jenna -- but wouldn't the flagship production company of the world's most mainstream and recognizable adult star prove a stifling place for an alterna-babe like Angel to work?
Apparently not.
"They're hiring me because they like my movies," she said. "They want me to do my thing."
