People of a certain age remember Diane Webber as the first nude model they ever saw. Blond, pretty and statuesque — some would say "built like a brick shithouse" but not us, we're refined, and don't you fuckin' forget it — she was a Playmate twice, and posed for glamour photographers like Peter Gowland and Bunny Yeager.
She was a frequent model for Ed Lange and his Elysium publications. Almost every magazine Lange put out — and there were hundreds — had at least one picture of Diane Webber in it, often with her husband and later with their kids.
A committed nudist when nudism was considered a smutty joke, she had no personal problems posing nude as a figure model, and became famous as a nude model in an era when casual nudity was not commonplace.
Her many appearances in nudist magazines formed the framing device for Gay Talese's study of sexuailty in America, Thy Neighbor's Wife.
XFANZ has received reports that she died Aug. 19 of complications from ovarian cancer surgery.
Here's a collection of her photos we culled from her Playboy appearances. For those who remember Diane Webber, here's a chance to remember her. For those who don't, here's a chance to see her for the first time.
