I was thinking about Diane Webber over the weekend, and I looked at the story I had written about her and one word popped up.

"Blond."

Click through and look at the pictures. She was most decidedly not blond. In fact, I have seen pictures of her with blond hair and she looks weird. This was a woman whose coloring went to browns and mahoganies — especially in midsummer after a few months of serious outdoor naked time — but for some reason I thought of her as blond.

Same with '70s vintage adult performer Annette Haven. She always played cool and aloof, she could be the classic Hitchcock blond in every respect except hair color. And she had sex on camera, Hitch never could shoot that even if he did get pretty close in Frenzy.

I do not know why I keep thinking of Diane Webber and Annette Haven as blonds when I am faced with compelling photographic evidence that they are not.

Like I said, the human mind is a strange and wonderful thing. I guess the "wonderful" part will come up later.
